Barefoot In Vermont

“A body in motion stays in motion.”  “Move it or lose it.”  I realized, I have to start NOW if I hope to be healthy and active for decades to come.

This blog chronicles my experience combining Couch-to-5K with Vibram Fivefinger KSO’s for a barefoot running experience.  I am not an athlete, I don’t even like running, but I know I want to be active now and when I’m old and grey.  Will I make it?  Will my lab, Toby, be able to keep up with me (or vice versa)?  Watch and see!

  1. Hello!
I came across your blog and enjoy it. It’s eerie how similar we are (I started blogging about my new foray into barefoot/minimalist running around April 2010, got myself some KSO’s, I’m a massage therapist, and I live and run around in Cambridge and Jeffersonville). I read “Born To Run” while stuck on a couch for 2 months with a broken ankle, and now I’m training for a half-marathon in Disney World in January 2011. (I skipped the 5K training and went right for a half – sometimes I think I’m nuts). I was barely able to run a mile before starting and now I can do 3 pretty well, despite having 4 screws in my right ankle. I am slowly converting people to Veebs, and I tell everyone how much I love them. I enjoy reading and following along with your photos and experiences! It’s good to know there’s another Veeb wearer out there…we are still rare here in VT!
    Take care,
    Amanda

    • Hey, another Vermonter, woo-hoo! Yeah, it does sound like we have a lot in common. Where do you practice massage? I’d be down for meeting up sometime or doing a trade if you’re interested. Thanks for reading. 🙂

  2. I practice at the office of Kirsten Alexander, DC (Little River Chiropractic & Wellness) in Stowe. I haven’t yet tried the Quiet Path, but I think I will give it a try soon. Another person I know just bought some KSOs – I should start working for the company. 🙂 I included the link for my blog, which has been seriously neglected for a while, but I’m going to be finishing up some posts I’ve been working on. I’ve also bought a GPS watch to help with training and give me some info on how fast and far I’m going.
A trade would be great since I’ve gone far too long without a massage…:(

Take care, perhaps we’ll meet on the trail sometime!
